Great Ideas For DC Travel
There are many Smithsonian museums to visit while in the District of Columbia. For instance, the family may enjoy the Air and Space museum. This museum hosts exhibits regarding all things air and space related. Exhibits change periodically and they do offer an IMAX movie that will thrill all who watch it.
There is also the Natural History museum. This museum offers exhibits that children will enjoy from dinosaurs to the mystery regarding the Hope Diamond. The museums are huge and can take hours to visit. Plan a few days to enjoy these activities.
If museums are not on the agenda, consider the National Zoo. The zoo is free to the public and can be accessed by driving there yourself or taking the local Metro rail system. The subway is a short walk from the zoo. This attraction is gorgeous in the springtime and the public can enjoy seeing the many baby animals that are there. The park has exhibits that range from elephants, giraffes, lions, polar bears, gorillas, reptiles and even pandas. This activity is truly an all day affair. The zoo is huge and a fun stop on any vacation.
Do not forget about the many memorials that Washington has around the town to visit. The White House offers tours but just plan ahead and request tickets. There is the Washington and Lincoln memorials. A visit to Congress may even be on the agenda. Searching the internet can provide the vacationer with information prior to visiting DC. There will be a lot of walking so plan accordingly. Most attractions are free or charge a very nominal fee.
