DC Travel A Historical Vacation

In Washington DC travel is a very important of the history of the United States. Visiting the DC area will allow vacationers to take in a piece of American history at its best. There are several locations that are must sees including the White House, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, and National Museums.

While visiting the historic White House at sixteen hundred Pennsylvania Avenue, there are a limited amount of public tours that can be taken inside. In order to book one of these tours, travelers must contact their local member of congress and ask for permission before being granted a tour. Once inside, the tour includes a stop in the oval office and several other historic rooms.

The Washington monument is also a very interesting stop for anyone who is visiting the DC area. This monument was one of the first of the city's attractions and has been very popular. This monument was erected in December of eighteen eighty six and was built in honor of George Washington our countries first president.

The Lincoln memorial is especially beautiful at night when they illuminate it from the inside allowing the light to shine behind Lincoln himself. There is also a beautiful wading pool that leads visitors to the entrance of the memorial. This wading pool was the site where Martin Luther King Jr. Gave his famous speech I have a dream.

There are also several national museums including the Air and Space Museum, the National Aquarium, the National Museum of American History, and the Smithsonian. Although it would be difficult to visit each one, most visitors choose a couple that they are really interested in and visit them.

Whether on vacation with a large amount of time, or just a day or two, Washington DC is a wonderful place to visit and take in American history at its best.
